Yeahbut...That's because UL has different goals than us. UL means Underwriters Laboratories. Underwriters means insurance. UL is trying to keep people from burning down the house. Trying to get an electronics nerd to not burn down the house is like trying to get Rembrandt to live up the standards of a house painter.

 

@ 12 , do you think U.L. keeps busy checking imports for safety. Does any one care

anymore , do inspectors know enough to inspect building supplies.

 

mcgyver is making a joke, pretending that Chinese manufacturing has no regard for western values, like not burning down the house with people in it.

Some of the Chinese products we receive make the grain of truth from which a joke is born.
