I am currently working on a project in which I would like some light to light up on a device when it is X amount of distance away from lets say a transmitter. This range is only going to be between 100-1000ft and the transmitter will most likely be indoors. I was thinking of adding wifi to the device to pick up the signal but it looks now like that can not be the case.
I was wondering what people's ideas were as to how I can add this sort of functionality to my project. This device is trying to be as light weight and power friendly as possible as it is powered by small batteries. I have been looking around and can not find a good answer on how to do this.
Please include any sort of additional hardware or IC's that would be necessary.
