Hello everyone,
I am hoping that you may be able to help me.
I have an ADC SoundShaper 3 eq that the power supply transformer is dead. I am trying to fix this for a friend but not quite sure where to source this part. I have a schematic of the power supply section and I am hoping someone with greater knowledge than I can point me in the right direction.
I have checked the old transformer with a meter and there is no output.

Can you post a photo of the transformer with a scale to show dimensions?
Is there room for two transformers?
Looks like you need two windings, 85VAC and 36VAC.

 

Your not likely to find one except from the company that made the amplifier. It is a dual transformer 18 volt center tapped and 42 volt center tapped.
Transformers usually don't go bad since they are just wire. Are you sure you have voltage at it's input?

 

Definitely voltage going in. I have looked for a used or new one, no luck. There is actually room in the case.

Kind of a kludge, but you could buy a couple of these guys and a 12 volt power supply to run them from.

Sorry, that won't work. one of them is a +/- supply.

Well, maybe 2 of them. I can't find an 85 volt center taped transformer. But you could add a bridge rectifier to make this one work.
We are kind of in the dark about the current rating. Is there a power rating on the amplifier?

This is actually an eq. Fairly low power consumption. I will take a look and see.
