AD623AN Op-Amp to measure current

    Hi all,

    Can anyone comment on whether an AD623 op-amp is suitable to measure a 0-3A current with an output of 0-5v?

    More or less, yes, it can be used for that. Don't be disappoint if it does not quite give the full 0 to 5 volt output if your power supply is 5.0V or even a little less.

    In order to use this instrumentation amp to measure current you would have to design a circuit, and the design itself is highly dependent of what you are measuring, how much the measurement circuit would be allowed to affect the circuit in which the current is being measured, and the accuracy requirements for the measurement.

    As mentioned above, you need to be more specific as to what your needs are, like noise, offset, minimum detectable, maximum signal, etc.
