I moved this post to a better forum.

The CS5532 uses the SPI serial interface to communicate. The data sheet on the device describes how to clock information to and from the converter. Choosing a PIC that has the SPI interface built in would be helpful. Several of the PIC16Fxxx and PIC18Fxxx chips have that interface.
