How would I set up the dual 556 timer to produce a square wave at 1.2kHz and another square wave at 2.4kHz?

For a square wave, you'll need to set it up as an astable. Check the data sheet for how to do this, and the necessary calculations you'll need to do to work out resistor and capacitor values. If you use a search engine, there are a few guides around that give you a starting point for capacitor values based on the frequency you want, then from that you can use the formulas to backtrack and find the two resistor values you'll need. It's quite simple really.
