I wanted to make a dc motor run for a fixed duration . So I employed a 555 timer in monostable mode and fed the pin 3 output to a relay com terminal and then i connected the motor to the relay .Its a 12v relay and a 12v dc motor. The 555 is perfectly working in monostable mode but the problem is i can't drive the motor on coupling the circuit with the motor by means of the relay.....so i need a solution for this.... secondly can i directly feed the pin3 output to the dc by suitably amplifying the output , sufficient to drive the motor

You're having trouble connecting the motor to the relay terminals?
A drawing of your circuit would be a lot of help. Can you post a drawing?

Partial schematic of 555 driving a relay is shown so that we can compare notes. Without D1, D2, 555 will most likley mis fire, resetting on trigger & possible damage to 555.
