I want to know that in a 3 pin plug, what are the connections of the three pins.
It means that the top pin which is comparatively bigger is connected to which part of the appliance or the circuit and the other two pins are connected to what?
If the top pin is earthed ,then why it is earthed and how do we get a shock when we touch the plug sometimes?

the big fatter pin is called earth pin....its connected to the metallic body of the appliance.. it is present to prevent shocks if charges leak on to the body of the appliance..
the other pins are neutral and phase ( i thinl thast what they are called) the are connected to the negative and positive of the circuit
