24 V to 16 Volt 2 Amp DC Voltage Drop

    I have a 24 Volt DC supply that I am wanting to charge a 12 Volt battery. I have the PB137 battery Charging IC.

    The Input voltage shows on the datasheet that the voltage max is 40 Volts yet on reviews I read that it should not be more than 18 Volts.

    I am trying to find out if 18 Volts is in fact the max and if so what would be the best way to convert from 24 to 18 Volts to charge this battery

    If you considering the Vin only use 18V and the Iout = 500mA as the datasheet described, so you can using a LM317 to drop down the voltage from 24V to 18V.

    I would like it to charge at the full capacity of the IC which is 1.3 Amps

    I have had considering you may like to draw some more current, but I'm not sure, if you really want to do that, so using LM350 will be ok.

    Or using LM2576-adj is better than LM350 for the power dissipation.
