I am wanting to build a 220Volt to 16 Volt 2 Amp power supply. When pricing the components to do this the cost of the transformer is US$25.00 which is really expensive.

I know I can by a transfer on amazon or eBay, I don't want to do that. I want to build my own.

I am looking for what I must look for in terms of a circuit diagram.

 

personally you would be better off buying a laptop psu ready made than making it from scratch,

Do you have any scrap electronics resources where you are?
This may be one cheaper way of obtaining parts!

I often find that when I am build a circuit the knowledge gained helps me in lots of other projects. Once I understand how it works and I can build it I usually can fix it, Make no mistake after that I buy bulk manufactured units

 

you could modify an old Atx psu to give out 16v, if you get hold of one i can show you how to increase the output.
