Hi, this should be a quickie. I bought some 18650 cells from ebay (link below) and I want to know if they're protected or not. Is there any way I can determine this without stress testing the cell? It doesn't mention in the description that they're protected so it's prudent to assume not

They are not protected, cells on their own need a battery management pcb to monitor for low voltage cut off, and charging too.

They are available in single cell or multiple upto 4s.
