    Hi how do you assign the mclr pin as an input and not as a reset pin,
    i have tried these lines and none of them work>>

    __CONFIG _CP_OFF & _WDT_OFF & _PWRTE_ON & _INTOSC_OSC_NOCLKOUT & _LVP_OFF &_MCLRE_OFF
    .............................................................................
    __CONFIG _CP_OFF & _WDT_OFF & _PWRTE_ON & _INTOSC_OSC_NOCLKOUT & _LVP_ON &_MCLRE_OFF

    ............................................
    CFG_MCLRE_OFF
    ............................

    pragma_CFG_MCLRE_OFF

    ..................................:confused::confused:

    Code ( (Unknown Language)):
    1.
    2. _MCLRE_OFF EQU H'3FDF' ; RA5/MCLR/VPP pin function is digital input, MCLR internally tied to VDD
    So you have done it correct. Do you know that the PICKIT 2 (and 3) take control of this line then the PICKIT is used to power the chip.
