    Hi

Does anybody know of a range of processors that runs off 12VDC or somewhere in that region.

It would be very convenient, but I don't believe there are any.

    Hello,

Microchip has some PIC's that can work upto 15 Volts.
Look for PIC's of the HV series.

    Greetings,

    The PIC12HVx and PIC16HVx have built-in 5v regulators.

It appears that only the PIC16HV540 is still in production. I would not be surprised if they had complaints from high failure rates due to having the heat from a 5v regulator on board.

The RCA 1802 CMOS processor (ca. 1974) was such a part. They have not been made for a number of decades however.
