    Hi,
this is what I am trying to do: I want to install HID lights in my car but I have day time running lights (8V) that cannot be disabled. I need a circuit to keep a relay off at 8V but turn it on at 12V and above (my limited knowledge tells me that I need a Schmitt trigger).
I found some circuits on this website but I am not sure if they will work the way I need.
    Any help deeply appreciated,
    Eugen

The 555 timer IC makes a dandy schmitt trigger--tie pins 2 and 6 together for the input and the output is pin 3--designed for 12V too
