Wow I just don’t know how to get the title short enough to post, but I see this problem has been going on for while.

Anyway I had a question on using a computer power supply for other purposes.
I was looking for a 12v DC power supply approximately 500w for some LED lighting when it hit me that I have boxes and boxes full of old computer parts. I have at least 5 or 6 power supplies that I don’t need any more or they are obsolete.
My question is can you think of any reason why I might not be able to use one of them for my needs? I have 10 led arrays that are rated at 300 ma each.

Short the green and black wires together to start up the psu, and use the yellows and blacks for the 12v.
