I'm trying to measure the voltage/current of a home appliance with a TI msp430 microcontroller (basically making my own Kill-A-Watt) and am having trouble researching the correct sensors to measure this range of voltage/current. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm using the 430 because it has a built in transmitter and want my measured values transmitted to a home computer.

I'm also trying to power the uc from the same wall outlet I'm measuring. Besides my DBR, I figure I'll need some kind of voltage regulator. Does anyone know what kind of regulator can interface with this kind of power source?

would be one way. You would need to add some amps with pots to trim if you want a 4-20mA, or 0-5 volt scaled outputs. With the micro though you can just adjust for a suitable high level and use one amp and let the micro do the math to scale in software.
