    HI
    just a quick query
ive just tested a 12 volt power supply, but its reading 19 volts with no load, safe to use?
i would have expected a few volts above, but that seems a lot.
    thank you

    Hello,

It could be an unregulated powersupply.
Can you show a photo of the powersupply?

Whether it's safe or not would depend on what that kit is. Personally, I wouldn't risk it as is, especially on "someone else's high value kit". You could try driving a small load and see if that brings the volts down to a safer level.

My guess is that is unregulated. Under a 1 amp load you will get closer to 12 volts. So, depending on the load you will get between 19 and 12 volts. Read the data from the kit. If it draws close to 1 amp you are probably fine.
