Use a 555 connected as one shot (monostable).

 

I wasn't aware that a 555 had a port1.0 or a Timer. It would be most helpful if you could mention the processor that you are interested in. Even better would be a link to a datasheet. I think the value of the crystal or oscillator would also be an important piece of information.

How much experience do you have writing programs in assembly language or in some higher level language?
