Default to find a similar diode/transistor

hi all,
i have a diode (6A2) and a transistor (X13001) in a circuit i am planning to do. but since these aren't available locally, can anyone tell me how to find a diode and transistor with similar characteristics?
i am prepared to check out the datasheets of many devices, but is there any way to reduce my range of search?
