Default Start/run winding resistance.

Hi folks:
I would like to find out how one can determine which is the start winding from the RUN winding on a PSC Motor. Normally the START winding appear smaller on schematic diagrams, does that mean that it has a smaller winding and thus a smaller resistance as well?

In phase-split motors I have used in the HVAC field, the start and run windings are the same size. The capacitor is connected to the start winding, for a burst at the beginning, but then the start winding continues to operate the motor throughout the runtime. In PSC motors "start" winding isn't really correct. It is actually a secondary winding, the same size as the run winding.

Now in standard cap start motors, the large gauge smaller start winding is only used to suck a bunch of current to get things moving, then has no use during run time.
