Hi
I'm looking for a miniature 12 position potentiometer. specifically a 1.1k pot that switches up in 100 Ohm increments between 0 and 1.1k I've found one from an automotive supplier but it costs over £120! so I'm thinking of building a digital circuit that does the same thing. If anyone has any advice on how best to go about this, or where to source a cheaper switched pot than the one I've found then it would be much appreciated. Cheers |

If you're going digital, and what you really want is a rotary control that has "clicks" or detents, I'd guess it'll be a LOT cheaper to use a rotary encoder.
http://www.bitechnologies.com/pdfs/en11.pdf Hook it up to a digital pot: http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds...60-MAX5468.pdf and Bob's your uncle! Last edited by spacewrench; 02-14-2010 at 07:14 PM. Reason: [added digital pot info -- 99 cents from Mouser!] |

Try a 12 position rotary switch with 100 ohm resistors soldered between the terminals. The link is for one supplier's choices - http://www.futurlec.com/SwRotary.shtml
