Default Project: A Variable Power Supply Using the LM338

Hello Everyone,

Just recently I've designed and built my own power supply using the LM338 voltage regulator. I find it to be satisfactory; providing a adjustable voltage range from 1.2V to roughly 29.8V. The output ripple ranges from -60dB to -54dB (1mV to 2mV) when the voltage is within 1.2V to 29V. However, if I go over 29V, I receive a noisy saw-tooth wave whose peak reaches 50mV (-26dB). Clearly, the operation is best suited from 1.2V to 29V and no farther. For more information in addition to some pictures, please visit this site:

I thank all of you for your contributions to my power supply, It works like a charm. I've already used it to power several other projects of mine.

Thanks,

Austin

Hello,

The Projects Collection (as opposed to The Projects Forum) is for sharing completed projects. I've moved your post into The Projects Forum, where it will draw more responses.

Can you post the schematic, to see where the humm is coming from at the higher voltage output.

Good luck with your project!
