Hello,
sorry if this question is too basic but I am stumped by it! I'm making a circuit on stripboard and want to use terminal blocks to attach wires rather than soldering them to the board. After much searching I still can't find blocks which fit my stripboard - are they a PCB only thing or have I not looked hard enough them? Would you bend the pins of terminals made for PCBs and force them to fit into stripboard? This is the stripboard I am using, http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Fas...ripboard/29453 I bought the 3 way terminal blocks on this page but the pins are too far apart for the board: http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Co...l-blocks/82656 I've looked all around the terminal blocks section, and on maplin, but they all seem to be made for PCBs. Thanks, Oggz |

This type: http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Co...terminal+block
will probably work OK for you. The 5mm spacing is actually 5.08mm, which is 0.2" - or every other strip in your stripboard. If you want terminals on EVERY strip, then you'll need to stagger a couple of rows of terminal blocks. If space is tight, you could stagger two-tier type; like these: http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Co...terminal+block

Brilliant, thank you both. I didn't know that 'pitch' was the measurement to check.

I didn't even think about that; "pitch" does seem a silly name for the pin spacing. I guess that is a UK thing; in the States they usually simply call it "spacing". We sometimes use "pitch" when referring to threads on screws.

Nope, it's still "pitch" on this side of the Atlantic. Check page 200 of the current Digi-Key catalog (January - December 2010).
