Power Supply for Nightlight

I am looking for a practial, simple power supply circuit for an LED nightlight. The nightlight will plug into a standard 110VAC outlet and only requires 5VDC at 200mA. I am trying to avoid using a transformer because of the size/cost ... and I have seen other LED nightlights with simple looking circuits, I just can't figgure out the design. Any help much appreciated.

Well, you can do it without a transformer but it will be most complicated by using a buck converter. The simplest way to do it is with a transformer, which will be relatively small because the power you need is small.

Hello,

Take a look at the PDF included.
This is designed to have 20 mA to go through the leds.

Always use a transformer when powering anything from the line. Any component failures may present a lethal shock hazard.

Policy here is to discourage any such circuitry.
