using RC/RCL/555 timer as oscillator for mcu

there is a discontinue chip (AT90S8185) that I have, it doesn't come with an internal oscillator, I was wondering if I can get it going with a RC/RCL oscillator circuit? thanks.

I am new to MCU so this is a learning experiment for me

Are you planning on using the UART?
Does the chip have two XTAL pins? If so use an external XTAL.
Otherwise use a XTAL oscillator module.

yes, there is a XTAL pin, not planing to use UART
