Hello,

The diode should be able to carry the same currents as the coil.
A 1N54XX diode will do.

Hi,

The Zener worked just fin and the Circuit functioned just fine.

I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to all who helped me here specially to the two gentlemen "thatoneguy" & bertus whom provided me with great support and hand walked me through my first circuit here.
I hope this thread will save some beginner like myself in the future as much as it has helped me.
