Passive transponder coding (433.92)

Hi and welcome.
I am looking for some information about programming passive transponders in 433.92 frequency. One of transponders I am using got broken and for safety reasons I want to clone the existing one. Can you please what devices I need to read existing transponder and to write this information onto a blank one.

What is the function of the RFID tag? Can't you obtain a replacement from the originating source?

It's a glass transponder used as car immobiliser. I have checked sugested options, but:
- to get it from main dealer, I need around £200
- to get it cloned by a mobile mechanic, I need around £50.

i know that second option is not that dramatic but I', also thinking that it might be better to spend more on programming device or find someone who would charge for "RFID coding" not for "immobiliser coding". Same thing but from my experience if you want to fix a car radio by a car specialist it will cost you tiwce as much as by electronic engineer.

There is a further area of legality to explore. If the response back from the tag is considered intellectual property, then copying/cloning may be prohibited.

I understand why you’re asking this question, as recently there were at least 3 cases of cloning a biometric passport (one was programmed as Elvis Presley ) and many countries banned cloning.
In my situation, I have 2 options:
1.Buy and cut new key for ca £40 and pay Ford Dealer another £100 to assign new transponder no with my ECU. Best option as having two keys I can then assign next one myself (according to Ford manual). This is rather expensive and I would have to buy a key outside Ford.
2.Buy and cut new key for ca £40 and pay mobile mechanic another £50 to clone information from existing transponder. It is being used by 99.9% mechanics outside dealerships and from my knowledge not illegal.
There are also some ethical issues, as if cloning would be easy and cheap it would be used by thefts. My explanation is that I owe this car and have full documentation to prove it, mobile mechanic just copied it without asking my friend to show that car is his property (and two weeks later didn’t want to give a replacement transponder as the coded one stopped working), and that car thefts already know how to do it.
I would really appreciate you help on how to read it and code it, or at least who I can ask to do it (within the UK).
