Dear all,

Our newly released theme articles on algebraic
statistics are now available at (please click on
Current Issue):

http://www.stat.sinica.edu.tw/statistica/ , or
http://www.claymath.org/programs/cmiworkshops/ascb/

There is also a historical review of this field by
Professor Stephen Fienberg. The review article can be
freely accessed by everyone at the above sites.

With all the best,
-- Michelle Liou, Co-Editor

*** Statistica Sinica endeavors to meet the needs of
statisticians faced with a rapidly changing world. It
publishes significant and original articles that promote the
principles use of statistics along with related theory and
methods in quantitative studies, essential to modern

From your site:
"The goal of publishing this theme topic is to highlight the recent

developments and advantages of employing both multiscale and
statistical methods for solving various methodological, scientific and
engineering problems. "

I just love the double talk. Statisticians would greatly benefit from
a good course in english composition. May I suggest you read the
elements of style by William Strunk and E.B.
White. As Strunk says, "Omit needless words!" "Omit needless words!"
"Omit needless words!"

I can only second these comments. Richard Feynman stated (my wording) that

the essence of a truly fundamental discovery should be explainable
succinctly. The details can be fleshed out later. What is the essence of
"algebraic statistics"?
