Downloadable versions of the AAC e-book

Posted 03-07-2008 at 11:58 PM by Dave (All About Dave)
Updated 03-09-2008 at 03:42 PM by Dave

Several people have asked me about downloadable versions of the e-book. All 6 volumes are available for download as PDF files:

Volume I - DC

Volume II - AC

Volume III - Semiconductors

Volume IV - Digital

Volume V - Reference

Volume VI - Experiments

Since the e-book is a continuous piece of work and is constantly being updated, please be aware that these PDFs may not be the most up to date versions....

Matlab Stuck Initialising

Posted 03-16-2008 at 02:51 PM by Dave (All About Dave)

Originally I posted this work around on the forums, I have had some positive feedback from the posts so in order to prevent it getting lost on the forums I thought it a good idea to post it up here.

For those of you that might be using Matlab R2006 onwards there is a bug which means if you start Matlab for the second time in a session (a session is defined as the time between OS reboots), at start-up Matlab gets stuck in the initialisation phase. You can quit with CTRL+C, but none...

We have added a Videos section to the main All About Circuits site as a compliment to the E-book Volumes and Worksheets. The video lectures were created by by Tim Fiegenbaum of North Seattle Community College and are available on a variety of topics, including:
  • Electronic Systems
  • Basic Electronics and Units of Measure
  • Basic Components and Technical Notation
  • Circuits
  • Circuit Troubleshooting
  • Alternating Current
  • Inductors, Capacitors, Transformers
  • Semiconductor Technology

Designing circuits at the most basic level

I will try to add basic circuit designs to this blog.

It will be like a design diary where I will try to explain my methods of designing transistor circuits.

First a little background of my experiance with electronics.

I started out in the 1980's with an interest in learning how to program a TI computer in basic. This was so much fun that I soon wanted to know how computers worked on the inside as well.

So I began to read all the basic electronics...

Millman's Theorem; Worth a second look....

Updated 04-14-2008 at 11:18 PM by hgmjr (Removed improperly used indefinite article "a".)

I have found that half the challenge and 100% of the fun of electronics is being able to accurately predict what is happening in one's circuit. Fortunately, there are many powerful circuit analysis techniques available for use in predicting what is occuring in one's circuit. Most of these techniques are introduced and explained in the AAC ebook at www.allaboutcircuits.com.

One of the available techniques consistently fails to garner much consideration. That technique is Millman's...
