sine wave and lots of current

I'm basically trying to make a clean sign wave inverter from 12 DC
to 120 AC most schematics I have come across are that of a 60hz square
wave.
I think I might have found one for a 60hz sign but its low voltage low current
so what circuit could be made to get 12v high current through a large step up transformer?

Should I be looking for something in the range of MosFets?

How much is "lots of current"?

Do recall that it will take more than 10 times the current on the 12 volt side than you can realize on the 120 volt side. And are you certain your load needs sine wave power?

For now it's kind of a learning project for me basically I'm looking to implement
solar power into my house so yeah kinda need a pure sinewave.

I would like to start off small and expand thus the reason I asked if
it was as simple to just add Fets to an existing circuit to increse the current
capacity.

You need to have the garage or your basement full of batteries to power your home at night. Then when the charge runs down it will take weeks to fully charge.
Cloudy or raining? Then no electricity.
Rediculous.

Agreed I will still have grid for nights also am down in the valley of AZ
so get a little more sun than most.
But as you have stated there is no way to go fully Solar.

I'm basically looking for a learning project that will help out a little.
Beit this is not a project for the beginner but im not a beginner
I just sometimes need a kick in the right direction.

Are you familiar with PWM and Class D amplifiers? Class D is a digitally modulated audio signal, very similar to what you are wanting to accomplish. Since the drive transistors, be they MOSFETs or BJTs, are used in the digital state their heating goes way down, and efficiencies go way up.

Use them as search words, I think you'll find what you need.
