LED Counter

Hi all,

I have been using nerf dart gun modification as a nice creative outlet. I recently came across http://www.manapotions.com/Chaingun.html where they use this kit: http://store.qkits.com/moreinfo.cfm/FK936 to make an ammo counter display.

I would like to do something similar, but with a 6 round gun. I require only one 7 segment led light (as the counter will count down from 6) an input to initiate counting down, an on switch and a reset switch. Also, I need it to run off of a battery :) I can run the wire and arrange the physical location of the counter buttons.

I can solder, but have no experience whatsoever with circuits -- though from what I understand -- this project is probably at a beginner's level. I cannot read circuit maps.

In any case, you all would know better than I would everything that would be involved to make this project a reality. Can you please advise if this is something a layperson like myself could accomplish without detailed training? If so, how would you suggest I go about accomplishing it?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

I'll begin reading. How long would you estimate it will take for me to become proficient enough to finish this project?
