I need to build a 50-100VDC to 12VDC buck converter. I found some schematics for them, but the voltages were too low. Thanks for any help.

The LM 5116 is rated for 100 VDC input. Better yet, go the National Semiconductor website (power management) and enter the parameters you want to design a simple switcher.
