ssh between macs

If I am in ssh and on a remote mac with it (from my mac) what would be the syntax to copy a file from the remote to the local, or vice versa? I just don't know how to address a second computer mid cp command.

I don't know about MACs but secure copy uses SSH for host to host transfers. On Linux you would use the following syntax:

copy from remote machine to local machine =>
scp username@remote_machine:/some/directory/path/filename /some/directory/path

copy from local machine to remote machine =>
scp /some/directory/path/filename username@remote_machine:/some/directory/path
