All About Circuits Forums: Rules, Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions of Usage
Definitions: "You/Your" means You, the user of the facilities here at All About Circuits, "We/Us/Our" means the All About Circuits Administration and Moderators. These Rules, Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions of usage shall apply to Your use of the "All About Circuits Forums" located at http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/index.php and its related domains ("The All About Circuits Site"). By using the All About Circuits Forums You agree to be bound by the rules, code of conduct and terms and conditions of usage detailed below. As part of Our commitment to ensuring the All About Circuits Forums provide the best possible experience for Our members, We welcome your comments on any of the policies or rules set out below. To provide feedback please use the Rules, Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions of Usage Feedback in the Feedback and Suggestions Section, or by contacting Us through the Contact Us section of the All About Circuits Forum. Rules, Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions of Usage: 1. Respect fellow forum members. Debates can be both enlightening and entertaining, but always keep discussion to the facts and the opinions. Debate should be a civil activity - Ad hominem tactics are always "off-topic". 2. Appropriate conduct. Forum members are responsible for the content of their posts, including information they provide, validity of this information, and any extra content they may append to the post. Illegal or inappropriate discussion or information will be removed. When there is ambiguity in the legal status of a request or reply, the Moderators and Admin will come to a consensus on whether the discussion is appropriate to remain in the public forum. Forum members must not knowingly provide any information that may adversely affect another member; this includes, but is not restricted to, information that may potentially result in injury, death, damage or destruction of property and possessions. The administration takes this matter seriously and has the right to remove any contentious content and deal with the offending member as it deems is necessary. 3. Search first, then post. The search function is available at the top of each page, between "New Posts" and "Quick Links." Try searching both the on-line textbook and the forums to see if your question has already been addressed. The newsgroup archive resource is also available. If your answer does not already exist, then by all means post the thread. We don't want a mass of duplicate topics popping up everywhere. Duplicate posts will either be merged, if appropriate, or deleted. 4. Good questions draw good answers. When posting a topic provide all information that is relevant to your question, even if you think you are giving too much information – it is better to know too much than not enough. Try to use appropriate language and good grammar - it is easier for everyone to concentrate on the message if it is clear. Before submitting your posting, re-read it to ensure that what you have said is what you meant to say. 5. References to copyrighted material. When referencing copyrighted material, please provide the relevant credit. In some cases, an intellectual property owner may require they give you permission before you can reprint or reuse their work. In most cases, a link to the original source is acceptable, if applicable. Please do not make requests for or post links to material that otherwise contravenes the conditions of the original or subsequent author's copyright. All instances of such requests will be met firstly with a warning, and secondly with a ban. If you are in doubt raise the issue with a Moderator or Administrator. 6. Use of attachments in forum posts. Attachments, like the posts to which they are appended, should be relevant to the topic at hand. Schematics can shed a world of light on a question or problem. In the interests of forum members using dial-up, schematics should ideally be in GIF, JPEG or PNG format, not Bitmap. We strongly advise that all other attachments are made using the Portable Document Format (PDF). This is both for the protection of the original authors IP and in the wider interests of security of the members at AAC. Attachments containing offensive, illegal or otherwise contentious content are not allowed. Content that may adversely affect another user of the forum, for example malware, is strictly not allowed. The administration at All About Circuits reserves the right to remove any attachment that it feels contravenes this rule. 7. Role of the Moderators. Moderators are here to help the membership. If a moderator believes that a question will draw more attention or help in another forum, they may move the thread to draw more responses. If a topic or post has accidentally been duplicated, they will remove the extraneous post. A new topic that repeats a previous topic might be merged for the convenience of the membership. Moderators may also offer occasional encouragement to keep debates civil, should the need arise. When debates become heated the Moderators reserve the right to closed or moderate threads and posts that may be deemed unsuitable in the wider interests of the community. The Administration and Moderating Team reserves the right to edit your posts, threads, and user information in any way they deem necessary. The Mods will only do such a thing if there is a reason and such reasons will not be questioned. Reposting content that was removed by The Mods will result in swift action and a ban. 8. Advertising and Spam. No commercial advertising or spam of any kind is accepted on the All About Circuits Forums; including but not restricted to forum posts, blog posts, and user signatures. If you come across any spam on one of your visits, please do not reply to thread; use the "report bad post" facility found in the upper right corner of each post (this is the red triangle enclosing an exclamation mark). Consequences of Failure to Adhere to the Rules and Terms and Conditions of Usage: We do not expect anything less than full co-operation with the rules outlined. If You break a rule, expect consequences. Depending on the circumstances an infraction will result in a standard warning and an e-mail or PM from the Moderating Team. In more severe circumstances, such as repeat offenders or spammers, the account will be permanently removed from the system and the IP address banned.
